3D Printing

We all heard the ruckus about the dangers of 3D Printed guns and how the US government fears it so, for my notable fans, I want to give you a chance at understanding what 3D printing is all about.

Have you watched Scream and Shout by Will. I.Am? If so, then you have watched 3D printing in action.

Now that I got your attention, 3D printing also knows as Additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital model. 3D printing is achieved using additive processes, where an object is created by laying down successive layers of material. 3D printing is considered distinct from traditional machining techniques (subtractive processes) which mostly rely on the removal of material by drilling, cutting etc. according to mashable in an article found here. Please check it out.

How it works

Basically, see it as designing a blueprint and saving it in a format the printer understands .stl being the standard format. Feed the modelled design to the printed and go watch movies or take a break for the day. Thinking of getting one? The cheapest high-quality 3d printer out there is the Open-Source Ilious 3D printer kit. it goes for about One million naira. You could get rough ones for about two-fifths of the price.
